Texto: Lucas 24:1–7
This sermon outline about the resurrection of Jesus is based on Luke 24:1-7 and reminds us of the powerful truth that Jesus is alive. The resurrection is the foundation of the Christian faith and transforms the way believers live every day.
On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women went to the tomb bringing the spices they had prepared. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, two men in dazzling clothes stood beside them and said:
«Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here; He has risen!»
We have reached the end of Holy Week. We have come to Resurrection Sunday, a day of victory and a day to proclaim a wonderful truth:
Jesus died on the cross, but He rose again. He is no longer in the tomb. He is alive!
The resurrection is what gives meaning to our Christian faith. If Jesus had not risen from the dead, our faith would be useless.
1 Corinthians 15:13–14
«If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.»
The Bible declares that in Christ dwells the fullness of the Deity.
Colossians 2:9
«For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form.»
If Jesus had not risen, it would mean that God is dead.
But Christ is risen — God is alive!
Today we proclaim this extraordinary truth:
God is not dead. He is alive and He lives forever.
How Should Christians Live Knowing That Christ Is Alive?
Proverbs 3:5–12
I. We Must Live Trusting the Lord With All Our Heart
(Proverbs 3:5)
«Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.»
If we know that our God is alive, we can be sure that He is still on the throne.
He has all authority and all power to help us in every situation we face.
We can trust that:
- He guides our lives
- He has a perfect plan for us
- No matter what happens, God knows what He is doing.
The resurrection reminds us that we can trust God completely, because the same power that raised Christ from the dead is working in our lives today.
II. We Must Live Allowing Him to Guide Our Steps
(Proverbs 3:6)
«In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.»
Sadly, many Christians say Jesus is alive but live as if He were still in the tomb.
They do not:
- seek His guidance
- pray before making decisions
- consider His will.
But Jesus is with us every day to guide us, teach us, and reveal His will.
If we truly believe He is alive, we must acknowledge Him in all our decisions and in every area of our lives.
The real evidence that we believe Christ lives is that we allow Him to guide our decisions every day.
III. We Must Live Seeking to Please Him With Our Lives
(Proverbs 3:7–8)
«Fear the Lord and turn away from evil.»
When we sincerely desire to please God and turn away from sin, we are recognizing that God is alive, that His eyes see us, and that our lives matter to Him.
2 Corinthians 5:9
«So we make it our goal to please Him.»
If we truly believe in the resurrection of Christ, then we must seek to live lives that honor Him.
Key Phrase
The best way to show that we believe Christ is alive is to live every day seeking to please Him.
IV. We Must Live Sowing Into God’s Kingdom
(Proverbs 3:9–10)
«Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your crops.»
If Christ were dead, our service, offerings, and sacrifices would be useless.
But Christ is alive, and everything we sow in His kingdom is never in vain.
This includes:
- our time
- our effort
- our service
- our finances.
God promises that the harvest will come from Him.
Luke 18:29–30 reminds us that no one who sacrifices for the Kingdom will fail to receive a reward.
Serving the Lord is never wasted because our Savior is alive and He rewards the faithfulness of His people.
V. We Must Live Knowing Our Father Disciplines Us in Love
(Proverbs 3:11–12)
«My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline.»
If we truly believe Jesus is alive, we cannot live in sin doing whatever we want.
Those who believe in the resurrection cannot live under a philosophy of “eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.” (Isaiah 22:13)
We must remember:
God disciplines those He loves.
Just like a loving father corrects his child, God corrects us so that we may grow in holiness.
Conclusion
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is not just an event we remember once a year.
It is a truth that should transform the way we live every day.
If Christ is alive, then we must:
- trust Him completely
- allow Him to guide our decisions
- seek to please Him with our lives
- faithfully sow into His kingdom
- accept His loving discipline.
The tomb is empty, but Christ is alive.
And this truth reminds us that:
- our faith has a firm foundation
- our hope is secure
- our future is in the hands of a Lord who lives forever.
Therefore, every day we must remember this glorious truth:
Jesus is Alive!
